The Mountain
Tucked away in the heart of the Yadkin Valley, a small mountain rises above the landscape. Locals know it simply as The Mountain. For generations it has been a place of cultivation. Apple and peach orchards, pecan groves and bee hives can still be found on the estate and echo the heritage of the land. Eventually European wine grapes dominated the landscape and took center stage. Yet beneath the surface of the mountain lies a hidden gem; soil unlike any other in the region, with a rocky composition that mirrors the great vineyards of Europe. It is an anomaly, a gift of nature that offers both challenge and promise. From this unique terroir, Dynamis Estate Wines was born. Guided by the passion of two winemakers, a vision took root. What began as an experiment has grown into a pursuit of excellence, shaping wines that stand apart and carrying the story of the mountain into every glass.

Our Philosophy & Vision
At Dynamis, winemaking is elevated to a calling. We harness the power of the mountain; its rocky soil, its strength, and the distinct character each vintage brings. Our mission is premium quality without compromise, a creed that guides every decision from vine to tasting lodge. We harvest by hand in the early morning, sort each cluster with surgical precision, then allow the fruit to speak for itself in small-lot ferments. Innovation walks hand in hand with tradition: Bordeaux-inspired reds ferment in handcrafted French Oak and whites find expressive shape in Greco-Roman concrete eggs. Above all, this is estate-grown wine. Every grape, every flavor, is born, aged, and bottled on the mountain itself. It is authenticity, born of place and perfected by passion.
The People Behind the Wine

The land provides the foundation, but it is the people who shape its potential. Dynamis was co-founded by Matheson Worrell, a North Carolina native whose winemaking journey began in the Viticulture and Enology Program at the Shelton-Badgett Center before taking him to Burgundy, France and then back to the United States and across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Hands-on in both vineyard and cellar, Matheson brings vision and precision to each vintage, showing how even challenging years can produce terroir-driven wines of depth and authenticity.
Alongside him is Katy Kidd, whose path began in fine dining where she witnessed wine’s transformative role at the table. After training in sparkling wine production and mastering the Appassimento technique of naturally dehydrating grapes to intensify aroma and flavor, Katy co-founded Dynamis in 2019. Her perspective shaped both the design of the winery and the philosophy that guides its wines.
Joseph Geller, Vineyard and Orchard Manager and co-owner, first came to the estate in 2015 to establish the vineyard, carefully hand selecting the premium clones and cultivars that now define it. In 2021, he formally joined the team, bringing with him a background that bridges science and farming. With a master’s degree in Viticulture & Enology, and experience across Napa, Sonoma, and the Southeast, Joseph tends each vine with the belief that greatness begins in the soil. His approach blends technical expertise with an intuitive respect for nature’s rhythms.
Together, this team ensures that every decision, whether in vineyard, cellar, or tasting lodge, reflects the commitment to quality and authenticity that defines Dynamis.

At 1,640 ft., our mountain rises among the highest vineyards in North Carolina, with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge and a landscape of rocky soils, sunlit slopes, and daily breezes that guide each variety to its fullest potential.

We honor smallness. Hand-harvested clusters, early-morning picking, and meticulous sorting ensure that every berry counts. Small-lot winemaking with methodical blending and an intense oak program allows each barrel to reflect what the mountain offers.

From soil to soul, every step of our winemaking happens on this mountain. Unlike wineries that source fruit elsewhere, we plant, harvest, ferment, and bottle entirely on the estate. The result is total control, complete accountability, and vintages that are precise, authentic expressions of this land.

At Dynamis, wine is served with view and warmth Upon arrival, a scenic 2.5-mile private drive ushers you up to the tasting lodge: A transformed orchard bunkhouse with glass accordion doors, fireplaces, and an Appalachian breeze that makes Napa seem familiar yet distant. Guided tastings, vineyard flights, and curated experiences offer an immersion into the story and place.
